Cannon Beach Fire District – Ocean Safety Division
The Cannon Beach Fire District Ocean Safety Division is currently accepting applications for Seasonal Ocean Lifeguard positions for the 2026 season.
This is a temporary, entry-level position running mid-April through October 2026. No prior lifeguarding experience is required—selected applicants will receive training and must attend a Lifeguard Academy.
This role is ideal for motivated individuals seeking to serve the public, work in a dynamic coastal environment, and develop lifesaving skills.
Application Timeline
- Application Period: Opens March 18, 2026 – Continuous / Open Until Filled
- Swim Assessments: April 17 & 18, 2026
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Successfully pass a pool and ocean swim assessment
- Be able to attend and complete a Lifeguard Academy
- Possess strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Be physically capable of performing open water rescues
No prior lifeguarding experience is required. Training will be provided.
Position Overview
Seasonal Ocean Lifeguards are responsible for:
- Providing public safety services along the Cannon Beach coastline
- Monitoring ocean conditions and identifying hazards
- Performing water rescues and emergency response as needed
- Educating the public on ocean safety
- Supporting daily beach operations as part of a professional team
